Executive Function Lab

Help Your Struggling Student...

Get Unstuck.

Make School Easier.

 Smile More.

Hi Parents, Teachers, Coaches,

Welcome to Executive Function Lab with Seth Perler.

What if helping your complicated, struggling student was easier, more fun, and more effective?

I created EF Lab to help you save time and energy by not spinning your wheels trying to help your child, and seeing the same patterns continue.

Instead, EF Lab gives you tools that actually work.

Helping a Struggling Student is all about building "Executive Function" skills, which is the most important concept adults "should" understand, but don't.

EF Lab gives you clear step-by-step strategies that lead to wins and long term results, so you feel confident that your child is getting what they need.

What is EF Lab in a nutshell?
Parents, coaches, and educators love EF Lab because we get more results together, that people simply don't get on their own. We're focused on 1 thing: How to make a real difference with the kids we care about. We share a common goal to help our struggling students build the Executive Function skills needed to overcome their challenges.

EF Lab gives you tools to use now, so you and your child can start stacking small wins, that add up to create BIG change!

TOPICS: As a member of EF LAB, you'll learn about helping your student with...

  • Executive Function: How to help build the EF Skills kids need for school and life success.
  • Planning: Learn how to help students get real skills to use planners independently, so they can stop falling behind, and stay on top of things with confidence, even for kids who hate planners.
  • Organization: Learn how to help students create personalized organizational systems, so they can manage backpacks, lockers, papers, folders, books, school supplies, bedrooms, etc.
  • Resistance: Most students with EF challenges resist help, and resist doing the things that would make school and life easier. EF Lab helps you implement strategies to help students get unstuck.
  • Relationship: How to heal and build a stronger, more secure, and more fun relationship with your child. Learn how to get more authentic buy-in and ownership, so they can move forward sooner.
  • Mental Health: How to help kids learn to work through difficult emotions and how to build a vocabulary around mental health and emotions so they can communicate in healthy and proactive ways.
  • Advocacy: How to communicate with the school or teachers effectively, so you are heard, and your child is better understood.
  • Mindfulness, Self-Awareness, Metacognition.
  • Grades, Homework, Schoolwork, and Academics: How to help students build the EF skills necessary for school success.

Examples of Live Events

  1. Student Event: “Hail Mary” Day: End of semester Maintenance + Study Tips: Things can completely fall apart at the last minute! Mountains of work become even more overwhelming! It's absolutely necessary to do a big, fun maintenance party again, dive into some study tips, and learn how to deal with "Hail Mary time", so your child can end on a high note.
  2. Parent/Teacher Workshop: Set up a Digital Family Calendar: I walk you through how to set up a digital calendar that can be used by the entire family, so you can get yours set up with us, step-by-step.
  3. Workshop for Students:  How To Prioritize The Important Things Over The Fun Things When It Matters: Your brain's Executive Function also helps you "Prioritize", but sometimes we prioritize things that are fun for right now, but that can get in the way of doing the important things that are even more important for our future. So how do we manage ourselves to do the actual best things for our own well-being?
  4. Workshop for Parents/Teachers: Strengthening Relationship With Your Child: We'll learn several relational tools for you to try with your child in the coming days, designed to open communication and build stronger connections.

Why Did I Create EF Lab?

I've been helping kids and families for decades, and I've learned what works.

I also know what doesn't work, and have seen far too many kids struggle for far too long because they remained misunderstood.

These kids are often mislabeled as: Lazy, unmotivated, procrastinator, you just need to try harder, you're making everything so difficult, you've got so much potential!

Well-intended adults try to "motivate" these kids with lectures, punishments, consequences, rewards, using logic and reason to get them to see the light, etc.

But these approaches don't give kids the Executive Function Skills they need.

Helping kids create real change is not quick and easy. It takes understanding strategies that work, time, empathy, compassion, patience, and persistence.

So that's what we do here. We have a methodology that accelerates progress, and a community of caring people who help each other gain clarity about how to actually help!

I hope you join us,
